President’s Letter – March 2021

As we turn the page of our calendars from February to March, we also turn our focus to Women’s History Month. The national month-long celebration began in 1987 and shines a light on the extraordinary contributions of the American women who helped shape our Nation. This month, PRSA Orlando will highlight some of the trailblazing women leaders who helped shape our organization and have made significant contributions to our profession and community. Each will be featured on our blog at www.prsaorlando.org, or follow us on Facebook, LinkedIn or Twitter.

Just as we turned the page on the calendar, spring took hold as the bright yellow blooms of Tabebuia trees popped up everywhere—I see them in my neighborhood walking my dog, driving my daughter to school, and even on Facebook in the posts of many of my friends. The cheerful, bright blooms and warm air feel like a warm embrace after what seemed like the world’s longest winter.

Looking with hopeful hearts to spring’s promise of renewal and that we are turning a corner in the pandemic, many of us continue to operate in crisis mode, both in our personal and professional lives. For this month’s program, we’ll hear from colleagues who have been in the midst of it for the past year. Our friends at Orange County Government and the Florida Department of Health in Orange County will share how they have leveraged the power of partnerships to help them educate the 1.3 million residents throughout the pandemic. Be sure to register today!

We’re celebrating APR Month in April with The Power of Strategic Communications presented by Jennifer Hudson, APR, President of ThinkBeyond. Save the date for Thursday, April 22 at 8:30 a.m. Whether you are a seasoned pro, or newer practitioner, we’ve got something for you at this program. Watch for the invitation coming soon to your inbox!

Entering into our third month of 2021, your PRSA Orlando board continues to work hard to provide value to your membership. If you’d like to help out on a committee, or have suggestions for us, please don’t hesitate to contact me.

Lighting the way,
