Job Location: Monday-Friday - 8:30am to 5:00pm - Onsite - Altamonte Springs, FL
The role you’ll contribute:
The Communications Specialist supports organizational strategic initiatives and requests through effective writing, planning, coordination and execution of communication projects. This position requires excellent writing and editorial skills, a strong understanding of media and public relations, and expertise in project coordination and analytical skills. The specialist will create and distribute communication materials, conduct media relations and ensure consistent delivery of projects while addressing issues and demonstrating strategic thinking.

- Support the communication needs of organizational strategic initiatives and client requests through effective writing, planning, coordination, design and execution, monitoring project deadlines for consistent delivery
- Create materials to advance strategic initiatives while following AHS graphic standards and policies, keeping key messages consistent and standardized, escalating risks to supervisor and department leaders as appropriate
- Write clearly and informatively, edit work for spelling and grammar, adapt writing style to meet need
- Execute communication audits as needed to contribute to approach and timeline for utilizing communication partners
- Coordinate distribution of initiative communication toolkits to Adventist Health System entities
- Develop materials to support go-lives as needed, monitoring execution and distribution to ensure accuracy and delivery to end-users
- Develop post implementation communication related to mass audience changes.
- Guide and direct assigned field communication champions on communication efforts and distribution timelines
- Gather and analyze information skillfully and resolve problems in early stages with minimal supervision
- Work closely with supervisor to support communication requests
- Complete tasks in a proactive manner, actively seeking ways to produce high quality, efficient work. Responds promptly to assignments and tasks as requested and keeps commitments to deadlines
- Display original thinking, seeks increased responsibilities, demonstrate willingness to make sound and accurate decisions
- Assist with various corporate events as deemed necessary
- Perform special assignments as requested by supervisor
Qualifications
The expertise and experiences you’ll need to succeed:
Qualifications Required:
- Four-year college degree in communication, organizational readiness, or business management.
- 2+ experience in writing in a technical, healthcare or business environment.
- Strong writing and editorial skills
Qualifications Preferred:
- Working knowledge of graphic design principles and InDesign
- Excellent communication skills (verbal and written), flexibility and adaptability to change a must.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office 365
- Intranet
- Moderate travel required.
- Understanding of Photoshop

- Excellent Writing and Editorial Skills: The ability to write clearly and informatively, edit work for spelling and grammar, and adapt writing style to meet various needs.
- Understanding of Media and Public Relations: Knowledge of media landscapes and public relations strategies, including effectively conducting media relations, crafting media content and navigating potential public relations challenges.
- Project Coordination and Analytical Skills: Strong expertise in planning, coordinating and executing communication projects, including monitoring deadlines for consistent delivery. Demonstrated ability to gather and analyze information, resolve issues proactively and exhibit original strategic thinking.
