A Letter from the President | March 2022

From the President’s Desk
A message from Wendy J. Roundtree, APR

Just a few short months ago, our board came together for our annual retreat and one of the first questions we tackled was “why should someone join PRSA Orlando?”

And as you can imagine, when a room full of communicators come together, we have a natural tendency to weave together powerful words and phrases that encourage action.

But after a rather robust conversation with various answers to the question, we determined the value of membership was simple and can be summarized in three short words: Learn. Network. Grow.

I am not the same woman I was when I joined PRSA Orlando nearly a decade ago. And over the past couple months, it’s been a joy to see our members taking full advantage of the opportunities to learn, network and grow both personally and professionally.

Last month, we held our first in-person breakfast program in two years! A special thanks again to our February program sponsor Curley & Pynn, along with our dynamic panelists who shared how our role as storytellers can advance equity. Along with our friends at FPRA Orlando, we also kicked off our APR spring session for those interested in pursuing their Accreditation in Public Relations. If you’re on the fence about the process, please don’t hesitate to reach out to either one of our APR co-chairs (or me!), and we can share our experiences with you.

In addition to our traditional programming, we’ve introduced a number of casual meetups like our “First Fridays” and “Board Meet & Greets.” Rest assured, as the year progresses, we plan to provide more opportunities to get to know each other outside of an educational atmosphere.

As we head into the spring season, there are countless opportunities to engage with your friends and colleagues. I hope to see you there, and as always, if you have any ideas or thoughts about how we can better serve you, we welcome your valuable input.
