A Letter from the President | August 2025
Dear PRSA Orlando,
It was wonderful to see so many of you at SunCon last month in Jacksonville — and wow, did Orlando shine at the Radiance Awards! Our chapter brought home honors in multiple categories, and it was inspiring to celebrate our members’ outstanding achievements together.
A special congratulations to Christina Morton, APR, who received the Geri Evans Award for Distinguished Service. This is one of the Sunshine District’s highest honors, recognizing a member who has made significant, lasting contributions to our profession and to PRSA. Christina’s dedication, leadership, and tireless commitment to advancing our field make her a truly deserving recipient.
If you missed SunCon, be sure to check out the event recap blogs written by PRSA Orlando SunCon Grant recipients Malorie Reid and Sade Teel, MA.
Looking ahead, I hope you’ll join us August 21 for Communicating with Purpose: Building Inclusive and Accessible Connections. This hands-on program will feature leaders from the arts, tourism, health, and accessibility, sharing practical tips for connecting with diverse audiences. We’ll also enjoy a special performance by City of Orlando Poet Laureate Shawn Welcome.
And don’t forget to save the date for our Fifth Annual Chapter Recognition Awards Gala & Annual Meeting on Thursday, Nov. 20, at the beautiful Rollins College Rice Family Pavilion. We’re looking forward to celebrating a fantastic year with you — and are grateful to Rollins College for helping us make this event extra special. More details coming soon!
Warm regards,
Verónica Figueroa, APR
