Events & Marketing Coordinator
Description
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Assist the department with pre-planning, logistics, and management of city events including department hosted, high-level programs, City Commission and Board Appreciation events.
Under the oversight of department director, implement social media posts for official city platforms including, but not limited to, Facebook®, Twitter®, Instagram®, and Nextdoor®.
Seek opportunities to share or oversee posting of city information via other city department social media platforms.
Assist in creation, editing, and distribution of event press releases and promotional materials.
Develop marketing plans, including publicity and promotion for several events/programs within the same timeframe.
Assist with media relations, photography and video at City events; assist with continual updates to city stock photos.
Ensure inclusion of City events in print and electronic media publications, event calendars, websites, and social media tools.
Create City proclamations and distribution of such information using various communication tools as assigned.
Ensure press releases and video close captioning features are compliant with applicable ADA guidelines.
Perform other work as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
Working knowledge of event coordination, marketing, publicity, and promotions.
Working knowledge and substantial experience posting, monitoring, and editing various social media tools to effectively communicate city information in a timely manner.
Skill in the use of video-editing software and photo-editing software.
Skill in the operation of modern office equipment, computers, and software, including Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.).
Skill in multi-tasking and establishing priority of tasks to be completed.
Skill in working under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
Skill in working effectively on a team and successfully performing tasks on an individual basis.
Ability to complete tasks in a timely manner, multi-task, organize work load, meet deadlines, follow-up and take tasks to completion.
Ability to stay current with and learn new software and technologies and maintain industry knowledge.
Ability to communicate information tactfully and impartially, both in person and in writing with all staff, city officials, and the general public.
Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with employees, supervisors, city officials, and the general public.
Ability to demonstrate proficiency in the City of Winter Park Core Competencies.
Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions and keep accurate records.
Must be able to work a flexible schedule including nights, weekends and holidays, as required.
This position is performed with working knowledge – incumbent has the ability to recall and apply important/commonly-used information from relevant source documents or in a particular subject field, has access to reference documents when necessary. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Communications, Advertising, Journalism, Marketing, or related field, supplemented by a minimum of two years of experience in marketing, communications, or event planning which includes radio/television production, writing ad copy, creating marketing plans, and using a variety of social media platforms.
An equivalent combination of education, training and experience, which provide the necessary knowledge, skills and abilities and other competencies required for the position may be considered.
