The Opportunity

Provides leadership and direction in the development of college-wide communication strategies to increase visibility, enhance reputation, strengthen relationships, build partnerships, recruit students and faculty members, and engage donors and community partners.

Directs an integrated communications program that is driven by data and metrics for the college that includes websites, print publications, photography, media coverage, advertising, social media, and video production.

Implements communication strategies to help the college achieve its strategic goals.

Responsibilities:

  • Works daily with college leadership, including deans, department chairs, school directors, staff directors, and the advancement team to discover news and ways to enhance the reputation of the college.
  • Supervises communication staff and interns; hires and directs freelance staff (e.g., videographer, editor, graphic designer) and vendors as needed. Assigns tasks and deadlines to team members. Serves as a quality reviewer for all work produced by the team.
  • Holds leadership positions on committees and boards that further the communication agenda for the college: Serves as a member of the DAC. Participate in UCF communication-related councils to represent CHPS and find synergies and opportunities to maximize exposure to college news and its students, faculty, and staff.
  • Produce an annual publication that highlights the work and success of the college.
  • Serves as college's media relations officer; develops strategies with UCF News and Information to disseminate college news; responds to reporter inquiries; hosts reporters visiting college; monitors media outlets for college news. Develops story budget and editorial calendar that priorities the needs of the college.
  • Spearheads internal communications for the college, including a weekly internal newsletter that bring awareness to happenings, fosters pride in the college, and promotes collaboration. Drafts speeches and presentations that are of high-level value for the college. Serves as spokesperson for the Dean.
  • Plans and directs the production of content about the college and programs, including fact sheets, news updates, feature stories, brochures, advertisements, banners and signage, branded items, etc. Edits the work of the communication team for quality, accuracy, consistency of voice, and adherence to style/branding guidelines.
  • Adheres to and enforces appropriate editorial-style guidelines; monitors and directs graphic standards for the college and its units, including logos, color palette, and fonts.
  • Directs website plan and all digital presence for the college and its units, including clinics, centers, institutes, labs, etc. that is driven by data. This includes social media and videos. Directs and ensures digital asset archiving for the college.
  • Special projects as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's or Master's degree and 9+ years of relevant experience, including 4+ years of leadership experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Excellent communication (written and oral), attention to detail, superior time management skills; competency in the use of WordPress, Adobe Creative Suite, and Microsoft Office are essential. Ability to thrive under pressure.
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree and 9+ years of relevant experience, including 4+ years of leadership experience.
