Position Summary:

The Development Associate is a key communications professional responsible for crafting compelling narratives, managing donor communications, and executing strategic fundraising initiatives. This role requires strong writing, project management, and relationship-building skills to engage donors, stakeholders, and the broader community in supporting Grace Medical Home’s mission.

Essential Functions:

  • Grant & Proposal Writing: Lead the development team’s grant efforts by researching, writing, and reporting on grant applications while maintaining an organized grant tracker and ensuring timely submissions.
  • Donor Communications & Storytelling: Craft engaging donor acknowledgment letters, impact reports, and other written materials to effectively communicate the organization’s mission and achievements.
  • Project & Event Management: Support and coordinate donor engagement initiatives, including small donor acquisition events such as Discover Grace, ensuring seamless execution and meaningful interactions.
  • Strategic Communications Support: Assist in the development and execution of annual fundraising campaigns, ensuring alignment with Grace Medical Home’s messaging and outreach goals.
  • Church & Community Engagement: Work with the Development Team and Director of Mission Integration to cultivate and steward church partnerships through intentional communication and collaborative projects.
  • Brand Representation & Public Engagement: Represent Grace Medical Home professionally through tours, meetings, and community engagement efforts to enhance visibility and donor relations.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with staff and volunteers to ensure all communication efforts reflect the organization’s mission, vision, and values.
  • Faith-Based Storytelling: Share stories of impact and faith in Jesus Christ as opportunities arise, authentically integrating GMH’s mission into written and verbal communications.

Other Responsibilities:

  • Maintain compliance with medical/legal issues, patient rights, and HIPAA regulations while ensuring that all communications adhere to ethical and regulatory standards.
  • Utilize resources efficiently while maintaining a clean, organized, and professional workspace.
  • Perform additional communications and development-related tasks as needed to support the team.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in communications, public relations, journalism, nonprofit management, or a related field preferred.
  • Previous experience in communications, public relations, fundraising, or donor relations is highly desirable.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and donor management software (e.g., Raiser’s Edge) is beneficial.

Required Skills:

  • Exceptional writing, storytelling, and editing skills with a strong ability to craft clear, engaging content.
  • Strong project management abilities with a demonstrated ability to coordinate multiple initiatives and meet deadlines.
  • Excellent verbal communication and relationship-building skills with donors, stakeholders, and team members.
  • Detail-oriented with a strategic mindset and the ability to translate complex information into compelling narratives.
  • Passion for Grace Medical Home’s mission and an ability to inspire others through effective communication.
